The I still love Detroit mixtape series was born in 2009 as a result of a conference for Detroit Hip Hop artists held by Germanys own Wanja and Detroit MC Blake Eerie.
Ever since Wanja’s first visit to Detroit she saw the incredible potential that Motown offers and decided to push the cities underground artists to put Detroit on the map where it had belonged for many years already. Aside from artists the D is known for (Eminem, D12, J.Dilla, Slum Village, Black Milk etc) there are many talented MCs and beatmakers who, unfortunately, dont receive the recognition they deserve beyond city borders.
When Wanja teamed up with Dj Prime Minister in 09 and released I still love Detroit Vol 01 they both received incredible feedback from all over the world. The mixtape featured artists from all over Detroit who represent different styles but all take pride in making what we like to call “real Hip Hop music”. Since the release of Vol 01 Wanja travelled to Detroit a few more times, met new artists, scouted more talent and put together another mixtape full of undeniable, strong, making-your-head-nod Hip Hop.
Wanja says: “We bring you this music for free because the goal is not to make money but to let the whole world know that Detroit is one of the most important cities in Hip Hop. So enjoy, spread the word and let your people know about the D.”
Although we put this mixtape out for free we welcome donations which you can send by buying the mixtape on bandcamp. This is the only way we can keep supporting good music.
