Oddisee is preparing to release his new album “People Hear What They See” next month, but rather than do the standard issue single leaks, he wanted to make it more interesting. So last night Oddisee released a video of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Ain’t That Peculiar’ remixed by Oddisee (including a new verse). Next week we will be giving away this track along with 3 others Oddisee created featuring remixed songs by K-Os, Bon Iver, Metronomy. The collection of 4 tracks is called “Odd Renditions”. The video was done by editing several pieces of footage found of Marvin Gaye performing the song together and sychronizing the new remixed track – enjoy!

New Video & EP Release: Gin – My Lyrical Expression
After years of dominating the music industry as an artist and a booking executive, west coast rap sensation “Gin” is ready to deliver her latest compilation. Her new EP, “My Lyrical Expression” is the first of several projects she’s planning on releasing this year.
This EP is a collection of material that Gin has been working on for several months. Her fans will get the same raw transparent lyrics that they’re accustomed to, with a new sound that is conducive to today’ s west coast rap. The EP also includes the highly anticipated single “Outta My Head”. This track talks about Gin’s quest for honesty in a romantic relationship and even features the music of NCIS actor, Patrick Antonian.
In addition to being an artist, Gin also, has a strong reputation as an executive through her company, GS Bookings. Her agency has helped countless artists and legends such as Ras Kass, advance their music career as well as her own.
When asked for her response about the recent buzz surrounding her new music, Gin had this to say, “I have never been more excited to release a new project. This music is an expression of the deepest part of me. The songs have helped me process my emotions, and I really appreciate that the listeners can relate so well.”
Gin is a busy lady, aside from music she is also a college professor, a business owner, and an author. All of this is a lot for one woman to handle, but Gin says that after everything she has accomplished, her music brings her the most joy.

New Video & Album Release: RenCen CoolBeanz – Breathe (feat Steffanie Christi’an)
One of the most anticipated albums of the year, sad to announce, is also the last for Detroit native artist RenCen CoolBeanz. The album was released as a digital download only on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 in respects to the world he created online. His last studio recording will be followed up by massive performances and videos that will keep RenCen CoolBeanz legacy alive. With the last recording rightfully titled, Inspiration: My Last Album, the eclectic musical influences that helped him hone in on his effervescent sound is sure to captivate listeners across all genres.
With years of hard work, blood, sweat, tears and then some under RenCen’s belt, he is definitely the ideal artist to make a soundtrack relatable to all independent artists, despite the craft. Every song on the 32 track album are considered scenes to a movie that depicts the euphoric highs and sometimes miry trenches of indie artistry through RenCen’s eyes. So it was fitting for the album to be mixed in actual surround sound. “This album is like the adventures of the downside of trying to be successful and being on the verge of quitting and fighting through all of those obstacles and monsters to continue the quest for success.”Inspiration: My Last Album will also give the universal music lovers an earful being that it does not shy from multiple genres. “Every track was made with a movie scene in mind. I literally wanted to make an album full of movie scores. This is why it’s 2 hours long… just like a movie. I would say that it’s a musical experience that you’ve never had in life- period. If you’re a fan of multi-genres of music and creativity you are going to lose your damn mind when you hear this.” When asked to describe the sound (which was all recorded live) CoolBeanz’s painted it as: “it’s a musical mixing pot of: Nirvana, The Chronicles of Narnia(the movie and sound track), Scott Pilgrim VS the World (the Movie & Sound Track), Jay-Z, Cold Play, Alanis Moresette, Tron (the movie), Paramore, Gym Class Heroes, Daft Punk, Coreen Bailey Rae, Linkin Park, RadioHead, Portis Head, Flogging Molly & N.E.R.D., all smothered in CoolBeanz and real emceeing!!! #EPIC!!!”
Inspiration: My Last Album features emerging talent, strategically placed by RenCen CoolBeanz, such as producers Jay Norm, Randy Lynch, Que (Lead vocalist of Final Cue), Diff Jones (vocalist) , Steffanie Christi’an (vocalist), and a host of others. “I wanted to only work with people who aren’t known or popular yet to give them a chance to be heard and inspired. I met Ashley Christine at a fashion show, she told me she was a big fan of mine and wanted be a singer. I made her sing for me right then and put her on the album the next day.” If that isn’t enough to convince you of his passion for the independent artist, allow yourself to indulge in his latest and final masterpiece- digital downloads only-. The album is available on major online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify, Myspace Music, and more.

New Video: Stereo Boyz – Punchline Drunk
“Punchline Drunk” is the second single off the Stereo Boyz’ latest Mixtape “Guten Tag!”. The video was recorded during the groups’ “Midwest Neighbors” Tour, with scenes in Chicago, New York and at the legendary MonkeyBarz cipher at Union Square. “Punchline Drunk is a rap style we created, it’s the Stereo Boyz Drunken Master Style. We black out and write the illest sh** we possibly can. It’s our demonstration of being inebriated with creativity.”
The full “Guten Tag!” mixtape is available for free Download. Not only Switzerlands’ own Dj Jesaya lend cuts for the tape but also fellow Detroiters Dj Soko of The Left and Dj Prime Minister. With Mixo’s Father on the vocals of “From Ex to Best Friend” and Jon C (featured on J.Dilla’s “The Rebirth” project) this tape offers a variety of great talent, up tempo as well as soulful songs and of course the signature Stereo Boyz sound, which Germany’s legendary Dj Mad (Absolute Beginner) called “a breath of fresh air”.
New Video: Signif – Like My Style
Milwaukee-bred NYC resident SigNif presents the Darren Cole/self-directed video for “Like My Style”, the Gee Wiz-produced cut from her most recent release Embracing Rejection. “[Like My Style] is me explaining how I don’t fit the typical rapper mode, and how I’m 100% fine with that,” says SigNif. “Embracing Rejection is about the trials and tribulations of a starving artist trying to pave her way into an industry that’s not particularly in her favor. Rejection is a big part of life and once I was able to except it, I was able to use if for encouragement.” Embracing Rejection is the follow-up to last year’s Significant Wizdom EP

New Video: Mr. Brady x Tajai – “That Soul” Ft. Just Brea
It’s been nearly three months since the release of Machine Language, the latest solo effort from Tajai, one-fourth of the Souls Of Mischief and torch bearer of the Hieroglyphics crew. On that album, Tajai teamed up with fellow west coast native and producer, Mr. Brady for the track “That Soul,” and now the pair have come together to shoot a video for the song.
“That Soul,” which also shows up on Brady’s own album, Labor Of Love, begins with an innocent, alluring piano sample as we enter the bedroom of Tajai. “That Soul” Director, Smash Rockwell (aka Casual of Hieroglyphics) of Wetfoot Filmworks, brings viewers an introspective glimpse at one of hip-hop’s most respected vets cradling his infant daughter and looking after his chicken coop in the visual. “Since the song was self-exploratory,” explains Tajai, “I wanted the video clip to be as ‘real’ as possible, basically showing the ‘real me’ get-down as a father, homesteader and of course, MC.”
Throughout the visual, Tajai can be seen doing his early morning grooming, tending to his garden, and raising real, live chickens in his backyard. “I really enjoyed hanging in the coop with the chickens and bees,” the Souls of Mischief member elucidates. “I think the biggest challenge was to make the mundane interesting, and Smash achieved this through innovative camera angles and cuts.”
