Due to the affordability of software, the release of production packs (drum kits, pre-cut samples), and producers putting their own personal crafted sounds on the market, producers are popping up everywhere. There is nothing wrong with that at all. In fact, it gives very talented people who wouldn’t usually have the chance to be heard. The downside of this slope is that you have a bunch of people who want to become producers just because the access is to software and sounds is there. They could care less about the craft, or the history of Hip Hop production, all they want is to sound like whatever is hot right now. Info56 not only sounds like he studies the history of Hip Hop, but he also takes the craft of production seriously. In his new release Southwest, he puts together a tight knit, woven sound with precisely chopped samples and thick drums. On the title track, he chops up a brass section, with electric guitar wahs, that sounds perfect for Raekwon and Ghostface. The piano breakdown gives the drums room to breathe, and then the horns come back in, and DJ Dez’s scratches puts the icing on the cake. “Thug Procession” finds Info slicing a vocal sample over slight drum rolls and a heavy bass line. A few more standout cuts are “Margarita” and “Inner City Mexican” which solidifies his skill as a good producer. Once again, it sounds like Info has studied the history, and honed his craft. And, this savage ass beat tape proves it.
Merry Christmas everyone! ! ! This morning I woke up and found a few old beats tapes from friends that made me reminisce on life as a whole…..and from there I’ve been moving forward with a lovely array of thoughts and vibes that keep the frequencies of life in harmony. Surprising even more, that as I open my email, I run across an instrumental project, from a producer by the name of Mic Checkmate from Oxnard, CA…..which I must say it quite slamming.
At a first glance this project is smooth to the ears and I can already feel a few “freestyles”, no pun intended, pun intended, forming as a type this up. If you are one of those like many of us, who like to clean the house, or cook, or do laundry while kicking the dopest rhymes in your own private concert area (any room in your house/apartment), or possibly at a local cypher where the metal is tested often……I HIGHLY SUGGEST, hehehehe…highly……suggest downloading this project. Give it a listen and I’m sure you’ll agree it’s worth a few spins altogether. Just another layer to the giant Hip-Hop onion, that is California.
Happy Holidays all and to all Hip Hop

Attention music lovers! The 11th installment of Cryptic One’s “Crypstramentals” beat tapes is finally here! Volume 11 is comprised of beats directly from the 2nd season of his Beataday project, which found Cryptic releasing a 15 second beat/video via social media every day for 100 days straight.
Volume 11 is a creatively extended version, consisting of 10 beats selected from the first half of those produced for Beataday Season 2. The Beataday project came to fruition for Cryptic initially as a personal challenge to himself to kickstart his own creative process, but over time it has evolved into so much more. At its core he has discovered an invaluable lesson; that waiting for inspiration to fall from the sky is wasted energy, while dedication and consistency will always bear fruit.

HiPNOTT Records producer Sinitus Tempo releases free Beat Tape
Sinitus Tempo presents his latest free beat tape today, entitled Funimation. With this new project, the Maryland producer pays homage to the company Funimation who has localized anime and dubbed it in English for years. Download the project for free now and zone out to the vibes.
“Once a man is taught to fish, he can eat for a lifetime.” This quote, with its insight on learning how to prosper, was principle in the roots of Sinitus Tempo; who at an early age saw the intellectual fruit of underground hip-hop in his older brother. Now with 10 years of crafted production in his strongbox, the self-professed “King of Inflected Pitch” is taking antique sounds and sculpting them into jewels for future hits.
Announced as Nathan Peters on March 1st, 1989, the youth of this producer was cultivated by the sounds of Madlib, Oh No, MF Doom, DJ Premier, Just Blaze and Pete Rock. The adoration of his older brother’s skill of writing music pushed the much-younger Sinitus Tempo to match the words with a touch of sound. Under the technique of “looping and adding” which allowed him to sample a record and use it repetitiously with added drum effects, was the manner in which Tempo enhanced his style—until he heard production by 9th Wonder and Khrysis of the Justus League squad. Another gem was added to his toolbox of knowledge and from there, he set forth on a journey of mastering the art of reinventing classics. Through this understanding of manipulating the pitch of old tunes, an intrigued Sinitus Tempo developed a style of his own, building a more pronounced sound that have many awaiting his signet of ability to stamp their music.
Loyal, but tight-nit is the persona of Sinitus Tempo. Working alongside childhood friend and producer Doc Battle, Tempo also manages a green, yet dynamic artist named Obii Say, making him both dually active in the business and artistic side of his production. His confidence is encouraged by a strong history of collaborations with artists such as Azizi Gibson (BrainFeeder), UptownXo (Diamond District), Add-2 (seen on MTV, Jamla Records) and MED (Stones Throw) as well as a long list of production work for hip-hop acts from all over the world, ranging from names like Substantial to legendary composer Jun Chikuma (who resides in Japan).
The seeker of vintage vinyl keeps his future motives in front of him, making plans to collaborate with the likes of Flying Lotus, Alice Russell, Common, Kendrick Lamar, and many other artists. In just a year, Sinitus has made a serious name in the anime community with the release of four highly-praised tributes to Claymore, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, and Soul Eater. He has since put out more anime tribute most notably Kill la Kill EP. Just from looking at the determination of Sinitus Tempo’s aim at being one of the top producers of the hip-hop/nujazz/electronic realm makes the status of his upcoming projects look like an imminent win from the start.
