“Infinite/Finite (Man Comes Around)” is the first song off of MC Bravado’s Johnny Cash Tribute/Conceptual EP “Walk the Line.” The track features Soul Khan of the Brown Bag All-Stars as well as production from Militant Marxman and a guest appearance from C-Nature, both of MC Bravado’s own Cypher Junkies crew. Its release date (September 12) marks the 11 year anniversary of Johnny Cash’s passing. The song addresses Johnny Cash’s spirituality as well the premise of “if the gates were to open tomorrow, would you be on the outside looking in?” It sheds light on the ambiguous line of morality that we all walk as people and candidly speaks upon the pros as well as the potential pitfalls of organized religion; despite the song’s heavy subject matter, it contains quite a bit of humor as well. You can expect the first video off of the project in a couple weeks and the “Walk the Line” EP itself on October 13 (the same day Cash was inducted into the CMA Hall of Fame) on Bandcamp. For now, enjoy the new single as a free download on Soundcloud (Mixed and Mastered by Marc Beatz [Triple 8 Music] and Andrew Bryan [Fill in the Brand]).
Video: Cypher Junkies – Beautiful
“Beautiful” is the latest visual release off of the self-titled debut album from the Cypher Junkies. It features and was produced by We Are the Stars, and the video was shot/directed by Andrew Bryan of Fill in the Brand. The song and accompanying video offer insight into the group, both as individuals and within their collective dynamic. The eclectic, true to life, and gritty nature of “Beautiful” showcases the group’s ability to appeal to just about everyone. The Cypher Junkies are a hip-hop group of veteran lyricists out of Orange County, New York and are the spitting image of “don’t judge a book by its cover.” The group has been honing their skills for years via mixtapes, performances (popping up anywhere from Webster Hall to SOB’s to the Apollo Theater), and you guessed it…cyphers. The group has been described as a “Wu-Tang, Beastie Boys” hybrid and upon giving them a look/listen, this appraisal becomes alarmingly accurate.
The Cypher Junkies are MC Bravado, C-Nature, No Name, McNasty, and Marxman. The group has worked with the likes of Mac Lethal, Sean Price, Copywrite, EP of the Doppelgangaz, J57, KONCEPT, and DeeJay Element of BBAS, as well as Anthony Vincent of Ten Second Songs. Their debut album is available as a free download at ElitetiscRecords.Bandcamp.com! The Cypher Junkies will party with you, punch you in the mouth, and provoke introspection while the same L is burning. One listen guarantees a lifetime as a junkie/junkette.
