Maryland-bred, Los Angeles-based emcee E Reece (@ereece) presents three remixes of his recent single “Success (Keep On Rising)” featuring Los Angeles singer Jimetta Rose (@jimettarose), whose forthcoming album The Light Bearer is executive produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow. The three remixes come courtesy of LA production duo Beat Ventriloquists (@beatvent), Baltimore’s Wow Jones (@mrwowjones) and Dutch producer D-Felic (@dfelic). The remixes come on the heels of the release of the Jason Frerking-directed (@jmfrerking) music video (watch). Reece has collaborated with Mayer Hawthorne, Oddisee, DJ Rhettmatic and Kev Brown, and has opened for Pete Rock and CL Smooth and Talib Kweli. His music has appeared in 2K Sports’ College Basketball ’08, Oxygen’s Bad Girls Club, E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and MTV’s The Real World. Also an actor and model, he’s worked the runway for Alvin King in DC and NYC, Travis Winkey in Baltimore, and was featured in Floetry’s “Say Yes” music video, as well as Adrian Younge’s video for “Stop and Look”. “Mainstream media feeds us its own definition of success,” Reece says. “Money, fame, sex… the list goes on. In my new music video, I take over the airwaves to share my personal road to success that highlights hard work, motivation, and self appreciation as the keys to a truly successful life. I play a father as I prepare for my own daily grind, while my son (my actual real life son Jayden) soaks in the message that being true to yourself and your calling holds the greatest reward.”
Single: Rock Mecca ft Canibus – Hell’s Angels
Underground star Rock Mecca teams up with legendary lyricist Canibus to wreak havoc as “Hell’s Angels” on this fire track from Rock’s upcoming sophomore LP, “Ironworld”.
Over a menacing soundtrack from rising star producer Jake Palumbo (Ras Kass, Masta Ace, Shabaam Sahdeeq), Rock and Canibus intimidate the competition relentlessly and don’t stop rhyming until they beat the track into submission.
“Hell’s Angels” is a good indication of the kind of fire to be expected from the forthcoming “Ironworld” and why it’s expected by many to be a contender for best Hip-Hop releases of 2015.
Single: DJ J Hart Ft Rich Quick, Audible Doctor, Nutso, Davenport Grimes – Mean Street$
In the realm of international Hip-Hop, France has been holding it down for decades. Joining the French Hip-Hop wave is DJ J HART, the Parisian born DJ/producer whose beats are bound to go global as he takes to the promo trail for his forthcoming PASSPORT EP, set to drop in September 2015. The project’s debut single, “Mean Street$”, offers rap styles for every head – from RICH QUICK’s witty wordplay, AUDIBLE DOCTOR’s unabashed bars, NUTSO’s rugged rhymes, and DAVENPORT GRIMES’ soothing ‘street corner’ vocals, which serve as a gel for the Hip-Hop quintet. Inspired by Scorsese’s 1973 film bearing the same title, “Mean Street$” is an auditory effigy, a cult classic. Its mysterious guitar tones, paired with head nodding drums and impressive cuts, will whisk listeners back to a time where crime reigned supreme in the mean streets of The Big Apple.
In conjunction with the release of PASSPORT, DJ HART and RICH QUICK will be touring Europe together, as they showcase their chemistry as producer, and emcee, an alliance that has been previously demonstrated on last June’s release of “Breakfast,” which went on to become the most popular indie single on DJBooth for all of 2014. The tour will support RICH QUICK’s forthcoming LP,
THE EVERYWHERE MAN, which boasts DJ HART’s production – expect some gems from the dynamic duo in the months to come!
