Free Beat Tape: MOTEL EOLA – GO TO SCHOOL the 1st
Motel Eola, a 19 year old South East London producer, is ready to take hip hop by storm as he releases a three part instrumental EP, “Go to School.” This is a teaser to the release for his debut beat tape “Kids Looking for Gold.” The three part series short instrumental EP concept is a sum of preludes to the debut of his full length beat tape. “Kids Looking for Gold,” due out later this year. The “Go to School” collection will showcase Motel Eola’s skills and production process.
Filled with music he’s made before and during the creation of his forthcoming beat tape, “Go to School-the1st” available now with subsequent “Go to School-the 2nd” and “Go to School-the3rd” being released in the weeks following. In efforts to introduce his sound and generate a buzz, Motel Eola felt the best way to do so was to invite his audience into the creative process. An ambitious and clever mover for the fairly new producer who sites his influences to production greats like Oddisee, 9th Wonder, and Just Blaze to name a few.
“My production influences vary from Oddisee’s experimental drum patterns and breaks to 9th Wonder’s amazing sample usage to Just Blaze and his epic catalogue. I simply love the genius of the instrumental.”
In August Motel Eola released a collaborative project with Virginia emcee Praverb the Wyse, called “Professional Hobbyist-Motel Eola Remix” We learned from that project just how well Eola could match lyrics to the right beats. With his next releases he is looking to make a bolder statement, establishing himself as a producer to be sought after by the lyrically blessed. The “Go to School” collection and “Kids Looking for Gold” beat tape will be made available on Bandcamp, with links being uploaded to Motel Eola’s twitter account as well.

Free EP: Moe Green – Lion Heart II
Over the past couple years, there’s been a noted resurgence in the Bay Area’s hip-hop scene, not only in the quality of the music coming from the Northern California region, but also in the diversity sounds. Paramount in that resurgence has been a breed of new rappers, and one of the first artists given notice is rising Vallejo rapper Moe Green. Moe first hit the scene with the 2010 release of his debut mixtape, Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match, and has since followed up on that project with a string of noteworthy releases, including the Lionheart EP, the Free Water EP, and, most recently, a chopped and screwed version of Lionheart. Today, Moe is releasing his latest effort, Lionheart II.
Lionheart II is a mixture of both remixes and new songs from Green. “With this project I decided to pick some of the standout songs and some of the personal favorites I have done and give them new life,” says Green. “I usually keep features to a minimum, but for Lionheart II I chose to work with people I personally know and truly believe in.” The cast of features and producers on the EP includes Erk Tha Jerk, Tanya Morgan, DJ Toure, Fly Commons, Insightful, and more, each of whom bring an element to contribute to the Lionheart sequel.
Standouts on the EP include “Window Seat,” which features Erk Tha Jerk, and the remix of “K.I.M.” produced by Hg. “‘The K.I.M’ remix is one of my favorites, because it showcases maybe the three best verses you’ve heard so far this year,” says Moe of the track, which features guest verses from Touchscreen Trell and Joey Cool. “It’s me and two of my talented friends, just giving you us in raw form.” A refreshing mix of new and old, Moe Green continues the in evolution of his music where Lionheart ended. “It’s called Lionheart II because it is continuing from where I left off with my music,” says Moe. “It’s grabbing the baton from the last one to finish the race.”
