Life changing events can either do one of two things to a person. It will either make a person not have the will to go on, or give them the motivation to go hard for what they want. Pinqy Ring chose the latter of the two. “Phoenix”, produced by Serdna, is a solid release from the Chicago emcee. “I almost died in that car crash, so I’m living like it’s my last day. Every day is my past. I’m so present, I’m so nasty. The words that I spit are legit, I’m a genius. My sons and my daughter, my fetus. They got my DNA like double helix.” Serdna gives Pinqy a very good platform to showcase her talents over a piano keys and hard drums. Chicago has been through a lot the last few years, but Pinqy is trying to rise through those ashes. Like. . .well. . .a Phoenix.

“The city lights won’t sleep, ’cause they got a hold on me” sings Lexie on her collaborative effort with Al Rocco on “City Lights”. Produced by Araz, Rocco and Lexie deliver a track that you can ride around to whether your heading out at 8 pm, or riding around with nowhere to go at 2 am. It has a night time vibe to it. Lexie beautifully handles the singing with lines like “Ain’t a damn thing changed, I’m on a mission. Shine like a diamond, need no permission. They said “the world is yours”, have some faith in me Lord. Let me do my thing, don’t try to take me Lord.” And, Rocco evens everything out on the rap end saying “All I know is I don’t really know nothing. All I know is that I gotta keep running. Far away from here, far away from here. You don’t know my pain, you don’t know the fears.” A solid song from two artists that who will probably gain more exposure and light as time goes on.
