I was blessed to hear this track a couple months ago, as 2MEX himself was recovering from a diabetic situation that cost him one leg at the knee and almost cost him his life while simultaneously releasing an album he recorded while in the hospital entitled, “Lospital”.
We know many in this life and in the Hip Hop game especially, be it personally or that has influenced us as kids, that we have lost early to health issues that could’ve been prevented. No need for preaching…this is about appreciation….because 2MEX vowed he wouldn’t let his recent amputation stop him and has continued to be the same smile behind the beard he has always been, along with one of the witty word shapers with his crew, The Visionaries.
What makes this special to me right now, is that I recently spent two days in the hospital and over a week recovering just now…like…this is the first thing I’m writing anyone or anywhere. I saw something real near death….and it won’t go away now. This morning as I was in my final recovery, I was rewatching the Dave Chappele special on Netflix and he ended segment one with “CAN I KICK IT” from A Tribe Called Quest and I have been listening to Hip Hop and crying all day…ever since. Tears of appreciation. This world is sick, we as a people are sick, but I want you all to know as an extended family…..I love you and I always fight for equality , which is why I love heart felt music …even if we don’t speak the same language.
With that being said, here is Yacht Rockin’ (If you listen til finish, those fadeaway cuts come courtesy of Mando The DJ, who you’ve probably heard more of than you know. Humble great guy, runs with a great crew (always has) and this song all comes together.
