Earlier this spring, 4th Pyramid released The Pyramid Scheme, his first album since signing his label, Silk Ivory, to a join venture with Universal Music. The album has earned the Toronto rapper/producer accolades from the likes of XXL, RESPECT, the Village Voice, Toronto’s NOW Magazine, and more, and since then, Pyramid has stayed busy on the road, touring with Talib Kweli earlier this month, and now prepping for a July run of dates opening for underground legend Elzhi.
Today, Pyramid is excited to release the latest visual from The Pyramid Scheme,”Feel It In My Bones.” “This song is based on a true story of me breaking my hip in a nasty little accident,” explains Pyramid, who opens the track by rapping, “I’m so hip-hop/ My hip popped/ Shattered into pieces when I hit it on the block.” The accident is a few years old, says Pyramid, and for a while it had just been a matter of finding the right instrumental. “When Marco Polo send me the beat,” he recalls, “I pretty much knew right away that it was perfect for my story.”
The video, directed by Johnny Nghiem, who also directed Pyramid’s recent video for “Can’t Stop,” plays, humorously, on the song’s topic, placing Pyramid in the hospital, surrounded by doctor and nurse, as he raps, “Trying to act fly in a hospital gown,” jokes Pyramid, “was definitely the most challenging part of the video.”
