Current Oakland, CA resident by way of Chicago, IL, the Minneapolis, MN native, Charity Clay, known as “C Dot the catalyst”, has worked tirelessly honing her craft to insure a quality product is provided to her listeners. Her first release, the 2009 project entitled “forced to freestyle” was an introduction to her freestyling and storytelling ability as well as a display of her passion and respect for the culture and talent with lyricism. After receiving feedback on the project, she has worked to improve her delivery and conceptual writing ability and compiled her efforts into the ep entitled “the smokey winston project” which was released on November 2, 2010. The EP consists of 11 tracks and features the singles “you ain’t gotta listen” and “diamond in the rough” whose video was shot by Minneapolis director Hi Def. In 2011 she spent time collaborating with fellow up and coming artists and working on her third project entitled “Bridges.” She also released the anthem “80s Babies Grown Up.” She is currently preparing for the March 2012 ReRelease of her second album entitled “the smokey winston project redux” the release of “Bridges” in late 2012 and is diligently working on her next project tentatively titled “Vanguard Music” slated for a 2013 release.<
