After releasing the group’s sophomore album, March On Washington, earlier this year, Diamond District has completely recrafted their record with the help of a stunning list of producers including Large Professor, Diamond D (DITC), Black Milk, Oh No, Apollo Brown, Jonwayne, L’Orange, Paul White, DJ Skizz (Your Old Droog), 14KT, The Doppelgangaz, Quelle Chris, and Nottz. The “Redux” versions of the songs offer a new take on the lyrical abilites of yU, Oddisee and XO – casting them in a different light from the original Oddisee produced tracks. Legendary DITC producer Diamond D takes the reins on Diamond District’s newest song from “Redux”. This time the track Erything gets a gritty, gully, grimy makeover (Last week Black Milk recreated Ain’t Over). The new track, Erything, floats through an introspective, vacouous space, echoing with low-key head nodding knock. The original album version of Erything, produced by Oddisee, was a horn drenched affair that reminded many of the group’s original debut In The Ruff, while the new version brings that The complete album March on Washington Redux comes out digitally next week 12/16.

The mysterious hiphop collective known as The Black Opera flexes their muscle on their latest single, Behold The Opera, from their upcoming fourth studio album, The Great Year. Producer yU (of Diamond District) provides a menacing backdrop driven by stiff high-hats , bass, and ominous operatic voice samples, as the two founding TBO members plunder weak emcees with bars chock-full of poignant and razor sharp rhymes. Between TBO’s previous off-kilter single, “No Water,” and their latest offering, the group highlights the diversity and singularity of “The Great Year,” officially declaring their “shift to a new era.”
