Following up his highly acclaimed, marijuana-inspired Legrowlize It! instrumental album released in 2011, A-Plus (Hieroglyphics / Souls of Mischief / C7) is back with Legrowlize It! Vol. II, premiered by URB Magazine. With more audio Kush for your mind, body and soul presented by Arnette Eyewear, the album is another set of never before heard classic instrumentals from A-Plus’ personal vaults, made on an ASX-Pro in the late ’90’s and early ’00’s. Produced under the influence and inspired by marijuana and its culture, this is the perfect project to crank up and zone out to.
Beat Tape: A-Plus – Think Tank
A founding member of Souls of Mischief and The Hieroglyphics, rapper and producer A-Plus is ready to unleash the first of a series of free instrumental projects. Think Tank highlights A-Plus’s sample-chopping and beat-blending skills – from the triumphant horns and vocal coos on “Always Be the Same,” to multi-layered guitar picks on “Nothing At All,” to the lonely, crying strings on “Hear Me Out.” As A-Plus says, “One reason I chose the name Think Tank was because I like my tracks to emote and to make people feel as they listen.” Enjoy the project below!
New Video: Souls of Mischief – Won One
After a ten-year hiatus The Mighty Souls of Mischiefformed like Voltron, releasing the Prince Paulproduced Montezuma’s Revenge last December to high praise and rave reviews. Nearly a year later, and following world tours and the release of their ownHeiro Man toy, Souls is releasing a new video for “Won One.” In the Don Tyler produced video, the west coast rhymers go black and white, spitting sharp and precise verses throughout several city settings, an impressive feat considering the video was shot in one take. As the video jumps back and forth from one side of the Golden Gate Bridge to the other, the rappers find themselves imposed on the side of luxury high-rises and abandoned apartment buildings, alike, with their images, like the group’s music itself, transcending the city they call home.
