Detroit’s Finale works with Invincible & Pierre Anthony on Oddisee produced “The Revival” – Free Download
Roughly five years ago Finale was in the middle of working his new album “Pipe Dream & A Promise” – a great record of music that was ahead of it’s time. The record featured prodcution from Apollo Brown, J Dilla, Black Milk, Flying Lotus, Nottz, Oddisee, Khrysis, M-Phazes, Waajeed and more. Labels were reaching out to sign him for future projects. Pete Rock wore a Finale tee shirt in an interview. In short, Finale was ready to take over. He had just put out an incredibly strong record and everyone wanted more.
But what happened next is for artists everywhere – he stepped away, started a family, had his first child, and lived. Yeah, that’s right, lived life, took care of his family, and worked. Now that’s not to say he stopped making music, in fact he had a record deal to create a new album with a then new Mello Music Group. But what Finale did was take the next few years to live his life and experience things. This became the topics and themes of his new record, 4 years in the making. And just to show how ahead of the curve Finale has always been, the entire record is produced and mixed by Oddisee. Yeah, he lined that up long before everyone knew Oddisee’s trajectory upwards as a musician.
“The song is about taking time out to live but also planning out your next move at the same time,” Finale said when asked about the track. It is produced by Oddisee and features long time collaboratorInvincible along with Pierre Anthony.
The project is finished, the artwork is done, the masters are handed in, and in two weeks on August 14th Finale will release his new album “Odds & Ends” via Mello Music Group.
