If you’re Flying Lotus, you’re usually gonna be pretty smug when the time comes to tell everyone else at the party what it is your family does. Everyone knows how Stephen Ellison’s aunt and uncle were Alice and John Coltrane, but in My Dry Wet Mess he’s at least found someone to give him a decent battle in the ‘TALENT IN MY BLOOD’ stakes—OK, so it’s not quite Prince, but Giovanni’s Civitenga’s father is the bass player in Ennio Morricone’s orchestra. That’s worth kudos, right? If you’re not one for nepotism, this remix of “Pie Face” has enough about it to win you over, slipping and sliding along in purple, post-dubstep bass slime.
