Surrounded by a family of musicians since birth, emcee, producer, songwriter and composer Jura Shaheed, is gifted with organic and synthetic musical abilities to put together songs made for your listening pleasure. This Chicago native has an unconditional love and appreciation for music genres such as Traditional Jazz, Soul, Electronica, New Wave and Hip-Hop. Jura has been producing music and writing lyrics since his youth. With the downfall of the rap music industry, Jura educated himself on what it takes to put out an independent product that would satisfy the masses. With live performances, working hard in the studio, writing songs and recording music non-stop, Jura finished two albums worth of material and is currently finishing a mix-tape compilation that involves genres such as Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop & Progressive. His first album, “A New Tomorrow,” was recorded in his home studio and was released in 2006. And his sophmore album entitled, “Music Therapy,” was released in May 2008. Jura continues to produce music with a blend of soul and experimental sounds. He is currently working on various musical projects with other indie Hip Hop, Rock and Soul artists, as well as instrumental albums for those who enjoy music that speaks for itself. His ultimate goal is to gain recognition in the history books as the new renaissance emcee.
