I have to say, straight up, I don’t really like this pop feel to his tunes, I think he’s got enough talent and skill he doesn’t need it. After listening to his latest album “Way of the Shao” I think he’s sick, he’s got good rhythm he’s got a good grime like style, he’s got deep lyrics and quite frankly the tracks I like the most on his album are the ones with just him. I understand that the pop like bits are there for entertaining a wider audience, but I personally don’t like it, and think it takes something away from it. Although saying that, I do appreciate the good use of guitars in this album, and if you like the mix of music then fair play, you’ll like this.
‘Accent’ is the sort of tune you can imagine being played in a club or something, it’s the kind of tune you can imagine even ending up in the charts as it has that main stream feel about it, for the sort of style he’s gone for he’s done well, and is something I can see going down very well in the UK, it’s a good tune. Just not my personal taste. The rest of his album is worth checking out just for lyrical skill he’s obviously very intelligent and has great word flow, and I hope I get to see more of this in his up coming work. After seeing his ‘Fire in the booth’ I really got a good chance to see him in action and he is dope! So, on behalf of all those people that like clubby hiphoppy tunes, check out Shaodow’s latest tune with Mc Lean, it’s a proper up beat dancey tune. But, if you, like me, rather real hip hop, check out the link to his ‘Fire in the booth’ below, totally worth a listen along with his last release from his latest album which is also a banger (link also below) ‘Till the casket drops’.
