Something that can turn your city around musically is a run. Many cities have had a run in music that has turned everything around for their individual scene. Some cities have one good run like St. Louis (Nelly, J Kwon, Chingy, Huey), and some cities have multiple runs like Atlanta (TLC, Outkast, Lil Jon, Migos, Gucci Mane). Either way you look at it, having a run has no weakness. One city that is somewhat on a second run is Toronto. Their first run made noise with artist like Choclair, Kardinal Offishall, and K-OS. Now, they are their second run with Drake and Tory Lanez. This one will open ears to a new generation to check out artist from CAN. A producer and rapper team from T Dot who have put out solid work in a three song ep is Dijah SB and Joel Garden. A stand out track on the ep is “Remember When?”. Over a cool guitar groove with unhurried rimshots and subtle claps, Dijah SB reminisces about a relationship that has shaken her. “I understand that dealing with me and mental, I guess that it felt like a burden. And, you couldn’t understand, that I was entrapped in that thing that they keep pretty birds in. And, when I’m already depressed, I really can’t take all the fighting and cursing. But, then you come back to me, let you in happily, knowing that this ain’t for certain”, rhymes Dijah SB. Joel Garden puts together lush production that goes well with the well thought out lyrics for the 23 year old emcee. Yeah, the city of Toronto is making a second run, and it looks like DijahSB and Joel Garden will be around to make a name for themselves.
