When you think of the West Coast, the SouthWest or even the left side of the U.S., very rarely does anyone think of Arizona. I mean with it’s scorching heat (nicknamed “The Land of Two Suns”), lack of water parks, desert landscaping and unpredictable monsoon weather, one would almost wonder if life exists there. To pass through Phoenix or Tucson these days, or even a decade ago would be a travesty. There in Arizona exists a Culture of Hip-Hop that is so vast, you could traverse the desert back and forth aimlessly and continue to find talent. From ALL levels of the Culture. It exists in one way shape or form. Just waiting to be discovered.
This instance, we focus on a young man who goes by the moniker “Talk-Sik” hailing from Tucson, AZ. A representative of KAMERATA RECORDS, he displays the growth and maturity that comes along rarely in a generation. His recent release, “Inner-War-Kings”, is a prime example of an artist ready to be heard. His music is his refuge. His therapist. To those that have been able to listen and share in his moments through music, are privileged to say the least. Upon first listen I was immediately taken away. His wordplay is on point, his expression is poignant and the production is the perfect landscape for his thoughts. I feel like I would have too much to say in regards to almost each track on this release. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. You know how it is when you put an album on and just continue moving seamlessly with your day. It is literally one for the archives. You would be very well pleased with the donation exchange of $5 for this gem of a Hip-Hop art piece. Whether it see the mainstream light, remains underground or goes to the surface level of dimness, this is a perfect listen for the Hip-Hop head. A must have.
